Children & Newborn Portraits

Some of my favorite pictures have come from photographing children.  Kids are innocent, funny and spontaneous which makes for great portraits.  The key to a great children’s portrait session is to let kids be themselves and be there to capture it.  Incorporating their favorite toys or blankets can help put them at ease.  Pick a toy that will go with the theme of the shoot so it doesn’t stand out like a sore thumb.

Newborn pictures require the most patience!  My newborn portrait sessions are different from any other photographers, I come to you.  I will bring my props and equipment to your home or you can come to the studio.  As a mom of two I know how difficult it can be to get out and about the first month after having a baby.  Your schedule completely revolves around the baby and his feeding schedule.

Tips for a successful newborn photo shoot:

• Pictures are best when baby is 2 weeks old or younger.  After 4 weeks the baby doesn’t stay in a tight ball anymore and he isn’t considered a newborn.
• Start feeding the baby 20 minutes prior to the portrait session so you will be finishing up when the photos are scheduled to start.
• Stay calm and don’t worry about anything!  I will get excellent shots of your peanut :).  Babies can sense if you are nervous or in a hurry.  The baby’s attitude will reflect that.
• Reserve two hours for the session; we may only need one but it is very likely it will take two.
