I shot a family up at Cook’s Apple Orchard last fall and it was my mission to shoot at the same location in the spring when the apple trees were in full bloom. We had such a wet spring, it was difficult to plan any shoot outdoors let alone time it around the apple tree blossoms. The blossoms are only on for about 1-2 weeks depending on weather. I decided to shoot our family portrait at this beautiful location this year! I absolutely love these portraits of our family. I was even able to get a couple really candid shots that say it all about our family portrait shoots hehe! Follow this link to see all of our apple blossom family pictures.

I just finished up one of the most meaningful and influential photography projects. I was contacted in December of 2015 about the possibility of photographing the firefighters of Fort Wayne for a calendar. Prior to this project I didn’t know who Doug Schenkel was, what LLS stood for, or really anything about the Fort Wayne Fire Department. Now, 4 months later, I’m proud to say I know Doug Schenkel, LLS stands for Leukemia Lymphoma Society, and I know their are 18 stations in Fort Wayne, I know what bunker gear is, station 15 has a massive ladder truck, and I know Fort Wayne has the finest firefighters that walk the face of the planet.
Doug Schenkel is running for LLS’s 2016 Man of the Year competition. The competition is all about which candidate can raise the most money in a very short period of time for LLS. All of the proceeds go towards research. The greatest thing about LLS is that all of the advancements and findings are shared with all other cancer research facilities and hospitals. One of the many ways Doug chose to raise funds was by featuring our local Fort Wayne Firefighters in an 18 month calendar. Local businesses could sponsor a month and now the calendar are being sold all over Fort Wayne. You can also purchase the calendars online. Please purchase an amazing calendar featuring the brave men and women of Fort Wayne and to support LLS.
Below are some of my favorites and you can view all of the calendar images here.

I had been wanting to use a beautiful quilt I purchased at an antique sale, but never had the right moment. As soon as I saw the yellow bow and pink diaper cover I knew I found the perfect opportunity to use my old quilt.
I can’t believe little Cora is already 3 months old! It seems like just yesterday we were shooting her newborn session. She is as beautiful as her name and those eyes! It took some coaxing, but after a bottle and some mommy love she was all smiles. By the end of her session she was cooing herself to sleep. This session captured Cora and all her sweet little expressions. She has discovered she has a voice and she loves her left hand…I think we might have a lefty… Here are some of my favorites. View Cora’s entire 3 month old portrait session here.

My sister and her husband are preparing for their first child. I’m so excited for her and can’t wait til their little Everly Anne arrives! Maternity portraits are best taken between weeks 32-36. Much before 32 weeks and your baby bump isn’t prominent enough and after 36 weeks you begin to get uncomfortable. Let’s be honest, you don’t exactly exude confidence and happiness when you are an extra 30 lbs; however every soon to be mom radiates something much different. There is a tenderness and joy that every soon to be mother displays.
Alysse is almost 34 weeks in these portraits (Isn’t her bump the cutest thing ever)! We scheduled her maternity portraits at the beginning of April because it put us at the perfect time frame for maternity pictures and we were hoping we would have some greenery and warmer weather for outdoor pictures. The day we shot it was about 50 degrees with 50 mph wind gusts and sporadic rain showers. Midwest weather…if you can’t beat it, join it…so we did. We started the maternity session indoors in the nursery, added the dogs and then took the session outdoors. The results are absolutely beautiful! Check out the entire session here.

Krisna won a gift certificate at a high school fundraiser. They decided to get some sweet 16 portraits and some portraits to use for upcoming pageants of her daughter. One of the requirements for the pageant portrait was to incorporate hobbies or activities that you were involved in. Mikayla is in show choir and loves to bake. So for these portraits she wore one of her show choir dresses and brought along some scrumptious props! What a fun shoot! Take a look at some of my favorites; the entire session can be viewed here.
