It’s an exciting time when a family is growing.  It is easy to get caught up in busy schedules and the preparation of a new baby.  I try to think back to my 2nd pregnancy and there are many details that are just not there because I was preparing to welcome a new baby, while chasing a 2 year old around.  Family maternity sessions are a great way to capture those memories that will become cloudy or even lost over time.

The Task: maternity portraits, Reid’s 18 month pictures, and family maternity pictures

We were able to put check marks by each one of our tasks after this session.  I fell in love with these portraits as I was editing them and had a hard time picking only a few for the sneak peek :).  Can you believe this is Kelli’s second child…and she is 35 weeks in these portraits!  She has the cutest little bump ever.  There were so many perfect moments captured during this family maternity session.  Take a look at some of my favorites and please click on link to view the entire session…there are tons of other great pictures that I couldn’t fit into my favorites template.

I’ve taken these boys’ pictures since the oldest was 1, but I have never photographed them all together.  We had two goals during this session, to get pictures of the boys together and to get 1 year individual portraits of the youngest Frazier boy, Colin.

Sibling portrait sessions can be chaotic, but they also result in some of the most heartfelt portraits, because you can see each brother’s personality come to life with each frame.  Ian’s two little brothers look up to him so much and he does so well guiding them and setting an example for them.  Aunt Jess came along and it was great to have an extra set of hands!  Here are some of my favorite shots from this sibling portrait session.  Click here to view the entire portrait session.

There is nothing better than being a part of a couples journey in expanding their family!  The Nifong’s welcomed little Lakelyn early on December 11th.  I have had the privilege of being with them from the announcement, to maternity pictures and now the moment we have been waiting for…Lakelyn’s newborn pictures.  Can you think of a better Christmas gift!  My little girl was born December 6th and I remember being so excited to visit friends and family for the holidays to show her off.

I have had a flood of newborn boys the past several years so I was so excited to get all my little girl props out for Lakelyn’s newborn session.  The session went so smoothly.  I was able to get some excellent portraits of little Lakelyn and some stunning picture of Lakelyn with mommy and daddy :).  Here are some of my favorites.  Click here to view the entire newborn session.

Amanda has been my best friend since high school and it is always a great time photographing her and her family.  Her brother and sister are practically my siblings and there is no holding back when we all get together.  Amanda contacted me to do a sibling/extended family portrait session as a gift for their mom.  They will be gifting these portraits at Christmas (no worries they have already celebrated).

I have no doubt that their mom will be excited to have a new photo of her children and their spouses.  However, it’s not just the portrait that is meaningful; the forethought, time, and effort will mean just as much as the beautiful picture of her kids.

You would never guess by looking at these Christmas family photos that it was raining like crazy all day.  We were forced into the barn for portraits and boy am I glad, because these are some of my favorite large family pictures EVER!  There outfits couldn’t have been anymore perfect for the barn setting.  I photographed the Wissman family last year around Thanksgiving.  It seemed like little Stella was just a baby compared to this year, all the boys are a foot taller, and Valerie is becoming such a beautiful young lady:).  We weren’t able to get their hockey shots last year, but this time around we made sure to include some pictures of the boys in their hockey gear.  This is a fun, rambunctious group and I’m honored that they came back this year for another round of family portraits!  Thank You.  Here are some of my favorite pictures from the session.  To take a look at the entire beautiful family portraits session shot  in the barn click here.
