Outdoor Maternity Photos

Maternity pictures have become extremely popular recently.  However, it takes a lot of courage and self confidence to get in front of a camera for many expecting mothers.  Heck, many people don’t like being in front of the camera when they aren’t pregnant!   I finally talked my friend/coworker Madison into getting some maternity portraits.  She is just so cute “even though she says she feels huge”.  At 30 weeks I think she is looking pretty darn good!  Take a look at her outdoor maternity session.  What a beautiful location, weather, and soon to be momma 😉

Outdoor Table Top Project

Last fall we had a terrible storm and our outdoor table was thrown from our back patio.  The glass top shattered into a million pieces leaving us with a metal frame.  We debated getting another glass insert, but decided it was too expensive and would most likely end up shattered again!  So…after a trip to Lowe’s and a long conversation with a very helpful Lowe’s employee I settled on a piece of cement board painted with outdoor paint and topped with a polyurethane.

I found a stencil and votives at Michaels.  The votives were my inspiration for color.  In total I spent around $75 dollars in supplies and still have tons of paint for other projects.

Olympic outdoor Paint Colors: Base- Lunar Eclipse, Triangles- Cavalry, Early Spring, Indian Maize, Heirloom Lace

Impromptu Photo Shoot

Several weeks ago we had an impromptu photo shoot that turned out beautifully!  Sometimes the unplanned portrait sessions turn out better than the planned one’s.   Contact me today to schedule a relaxed, fun portrait session for your kiddos.

This is the typical start to most of our photo shoots…me dragging the kids to my designated shooting spot. Just kidding 🙂

Start of Photo ShootAnd this is usually how we end our sessions.  I think she is board and done with the camera lol!  I can’t wait to use this a blackmail when she is 16.

Children Milestone Portraits

How often and when should I get my child’s portraits taken?  Well…if you ask me I think you should get them taken all the time 🙂  In all seriousness it is really up to you.  A child has the most significant and fastest changes during the first year of their lives.  That is why it is recommended to have several portrait sessions done during this period of time.  The most common milestones to have pictures taken are newborn (1 month or younger), 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, and 1 year old.  However, these are just guidelines.

It is important to know what to expect from your little one at each of these milestones.  At 8 weeks your newborn is filling out and most likely won’t stay swaddled in a tight ball snoozing.  At 3 months you can’t expect your child to sit up on their own for pictures.  Below are some images to highlight each milestone listed above to give you an idea of the type of session you are likely to experience for each.

Sweet 7 Week Old Little Girl

Can you believe little Savannah is only 7 weeks old!  This little diva worked the camera like a pro.  I can’t believe how well she held her head up and how many big smiles she gave us.  We were even able to include some cherished family blankets in some of the photos.  It has been so long since I have gotten to photograph a little girl, I was in heaven.  Thanks Joe and Meghan for the opportunity to photograph Savannah.
